I am a freelance designer, web developer, and IT consultant. I specialize in developing sites using open source software, such as WordPress and Drupal, as well as custom PHP development. I also do database development, graphic design and videography.

I have been working in interactive media since the mid-1990s, and have been building websites for almost as long. I have worn many hats over the years: broadcaster, graphic designer, webmaster, developer, and IT manager, just to name a few.

I have worked with many different types of organizations, small to large – startups, agencies, festivals, non-profits, public sector, universities, and as a freelancer.

Here are some of the more prominent organizations I have worked with:

  • Methanex Corporation
  • Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces
  • Vancouver International Film Festival
  • Vancouver 2010 – Cultural Olympiad
  • University of British Columbia
  • University of Victoria
  • Blast Radius
  • Rogers Television
  • CPAC – Cable Public Affairs Channel

I specialize in information architecture, front-end development, PHP development and content management systems. My CMS expertise includes WordPress, Drupal, ExpressionEngine, and some proprietary systems. I even built my own CMS from scratch in PHP on the CodeIgniter Framework. I also have extensive experience with database development (SQL variants and FileMaker Pro).

In June of 2013, I founded Rex Rana Design and Development Ltd., with the aim of demystifying technology, and using it smartly to improve your bottom line. I am focused on making technology work for people, not the other way around. Give me a shout for your next project!
