Canadian Forces Combat Camera crest

I designed this crest for the Canadian Forces Combat camera section.

The round crest is in the shape of a photographic lens, and uses the following symbols:

Globe – demonstrates the global nature of the deployments of the Combat Camera section
Quill – to indicate the Public Affairs function (the team is part of the Public Affairs directorate)
Lightning bolt – to indicate technology
Sword – to indicate military/combat

The name is bilingual (English/French), as per Canadian government standards under the Official Languages Act

Canadian Forces Tae Kwon Do logo

I designed this logo, which became the official emblem of the Canadian Forces Tae Kwon Do program.

Sustainability Slideshow

This slideshow was designed to illustrate the strain on Canadian Forces personnel due to lack of effective strength, and the need to invest in sustainable troop levels. It was presented to the Minister of National Defence, as well as senior Defence department management and other top level government officials.

thesetunes.com / thesetunes.ca was online from February 2001 until March 2003, and during its operation was one of Canada’s leading online music resources – providing independent artists a showcase and a chance to promote their music. It was also a great information resource for music fans, to find out what’s happening in their community. Thesetunes organized and sponsored the Monntreal Fringe Festival’s music performances in 2001 and 2002, including a Battle of the Bands competition. We also hosted many concerts in and around Montreal in those years.

As a founding partner of and webmaster for the site, I was responsible for designing the site from the ground up, developing the logos and the look and feel of the site. I also shot video from some of the shows that we organized and added them to the site.

This intranet site was created in order to deal with the large amount of requests for badges and other visual identifiers within the Department of National Defence. A lot of work went into the site, from scanning in print versions of the crests, to touching them up in Photoshop, and even recreating some altogether from scratch with Adobe Illustrator!
